This position is responsible for a variety of projects including managing state income tax compliance and incentives.
This position will also be performing special projects in the state tax area, assisting with state tax audits, and calculating state ETR.
Candidate Profile:
• Proven expertise in state franchise and income tax filings.
• Ideal 7-12 years of state income tax experience in either a public accounting or corporate setting, or combination.
• Working knowledge of Accounting principles and the application of federal, state and local laws on an advanced level with a thorough comprehension of all aspects of corporate taxation.
• Must be able to analyze statutory and case law and apply it to factual situations.
• Competency with state tax compliance software is required. Equally important is your ability to work well with people at all levels of our organization, excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, a working knowledge of excel spreadsheets, ability to research state income and franchise tax issues and prior experience working with state auditors.
• Bachelor’s degree required; CPA and/or JD a plus.
Responsibilities:
• Lead income tax compliance process
• Review state income/franchise/net worth tax returns
• Review various miscellaneous state tax filings
• Develop audit ready files to support current year tax returns
• Manage and/or gather supporting documentation for state income tax audits
• Research tax issues and prepare written responses to state tax authorities
• Research tax issues to document filing positions and compliance tax treatment
• Prepare and maintain and/or review schedules in support of the state income tax provision and for compliance purpose
• Assist with FIN 48 schedule preparation/review
• Lead state income/franchise tax modeling and analysis
• Identify tax planning strategies in state and local tax
• Track state and local tax incentives
