(“SALT Senior / Principal”)
Philadelphia, PA – Downtown Location
The individual in this role will be responsible for applying their state and local tax expertise to solve tax problems, aid in tax decisions, identify tax planning opportunities and risks, and implement tax planning.
Responsibilities (in order of anticipated percentage of time spent in each area) are:
•?Assists with implementation of complex state tax planning strategies and the resolution of associated broad range of issues. (20%)
•?Researches various state tax matters to arrive at the most advantageous but proper treatment under the tax law; prepares memoranda on conclusions. (20%)
•?Gathers data, formulates position statements, coordinates, or negotiates in respect of examination by state tax authorities. (15%)
•?Uses knowledge of state tax concepts to seek to identify opportunities to minimize company’s tax burden. (10%)
•?Investigates and solves technical state tax issues, including those connected with state tax returns and planning. (10%)
•?Reviews working papers, schedules, reports and other correspondence, state tax returns, or other items related to tax returns or to tax payments necessary to comply with tax laws, or other items related to accounting for state income taxes. (10%)
•?Analyzes proposed state tax laws, models impact of potential new tax laws and writes position statements on proposed tax laws. (10%)
•?Writes SALT FIN 48 Memoranda. (5%)
Requirements:
•?5-7 years of tax experience with the majority spent in State and Local Tax area.
•?BS Accounting or Finance and CPA required; advanced degree (MST/JD) a plus.
•?Big 4 experience a huge plus.
•?Detailed knowledge of tax law and rules and regulations.
•?Excellent research, writing and communication skills.
•?Some supervisory experience helpful.
