De Janeiro is a chain of seven women?s ?off-price? brand name clothing and shoe stores based in New York City. We have been in business for over 28 years and our goal has always been to provide our customers with the best values on in-season merchandise.
We have a current opening for an associate/assistant buyer in our Junior clothing department. This person will have an opportunity to work directly with our president who has over twenty five years of buying experience. The successful candidate must:
* have a strong fashion sense.
* have 2 to 4 years of experience as an assistant buyer, preferably in an off-price retailer (like Ross Stores, TJMax, Burlington Coat, Loehmann?s, Daffy?s).
* have strong negotiating skills.
* be able to see projects through to completion on tight deadlines.
* be very organized.
Primary responsibilities-
* shop the wholesale markets and uncover great buys and new resources.
* analyze sales trends and project re-orders of hot selling merchandise.
* manage inventory through inter-store transfers and markdowns.
