Looking to escape the rigorous demands and billable hours of law firm life in exchange for a greater quality of life? Manhattan investment firm is seeking an experienced bankruptcy attorney with litigation experience and the ability to handle basic corporate transactional matters in order to provide a broad range of legal services in all aspects of the company?s business. Main responsibilities include:
-Defense/litigation of claims objections in bankruptcy cases and litigation in other corporate bankruptcy matters; Drafting plan objections and motions to compel
-Involvement in all aspects of litigation including drafting complaints, answers and other motions and pleadings, drafting and responding to discovery, negotiation of settlements and drafting and negotiation of settlement documents, legal research, and limited court appearances;
-Coordination with and oversight of outside counsel;
-Management of the company?s active involvement in over 500 cases nationwide;
-Drafting and negotiation of basic corporate documents and agreements.
Requirements
J.D. from accredited law school;
Admission to at least on state?s bar (admission to New York state bar a plus);
3+ years Bankruptcy legal experience, including experience with and working understanding of Corporate law;
Exposure to electronic filing and docket retrieval systems including PACER;
Excellent research and writing skills;
Strong organizational skills;
Ability to work and make decisions autonomously.
