EDUCATION ASSISTANT (Part-Time, Clerical)
Schedule: Monday - Wednesday, 9:30am ? 1:30pm
Days of the week are flexible.
Minimum commitment through December 2008.
Compensation:
$12/hour
Our Mission:
The New York Transit Museum [located on the corner of Boerum Place and Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn Heights] is dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition and interpretation of the cultural, social and technological history of public transportation in the New York metropolitan region, offering exhibitions, tours, educational programs and workshops.
Responsibilities:
Handle follow up with calls and correspondence to confirm group visit reservations, including but not limited to:
o Confirmation of booking details (group size: children and adults attending, age, grade, special needs, curriculum, group schedule)
o Confirmation of receipt of reservation agreements
o Review payment policies and credit card cancellation fees with teachers
o Respond to questions about guided programs, teacher resources, and general information and gather information required for the group visit
o Maintain careful records and revise group visit information as needed in Museum database
o Attend department meetings and training sessions
o Provide support for programs as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
Candidates should possess related administrative experience and some experience with provision of educational services. He/she must possess a patient, polite, and professional phone manner, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be detailed oriented, team-oriented and highly organized.
